From September 19-21, the working group is organizing the international and interdisciplinary workshop“SEX EDUCATION: Subjectivities, Materialities, Differences<\/strong>” at JGU. <\/p>\n\n

The aim of the workshop is to provide a platform for interdisciplinary discourse and critical reflection on the various dimensions of the relationship between sexuality and knowledge<\/strong>(transmission).\nOften the subject of ongoing heated and often morally charged social and political debates and an arena of the “sexual antinomies of late modernity” (Jackson\/Scott 2004), sexual education is often perceived either as an instrument of indoctrination or as a necessary tool for sexual autonomy.\nBeyond such moralizing discourses, the workshop is interested in a perspective on sexuality as a cultural product of knowledge processes. <\/p>\n\n

We are expecting speakers from eight countries<\/strong> (Germany, England, India, Israel, Austria, Scotland, Sweden, USA) and various disciplines as well as keynote speeches<\/strong> by Jack Halberstam<\/strong> (Columbia University, USA)<\/a>, Elisabeth Tuider<\/strong> (University of Kassel, Germany) and Nick Fox <\/strong>(University of Huddersfield, UK).<\/p>\n\n
